Ooh, you're a fine witch!
On to 1976, and the Halloween inspiration begins on the cover! Cover price = $1.95 . . . an 11% increase over the same month last year!
Hustler has a reputation for throwing care to the wind, but I was disappointed that one of the first cartoons was stereotypically racist. It wasn't funny, it was disappointing. I expect to see racial jokes, which are racist in their own way - but it's not cool to have something racist that is mean-spirited and calling for harm. No place for it, whether it's 1976 or 2023.
X Rated Reviews
Temptations - Three-quarters erect - a Jennifer Welles film - can't seem to locate it.
The Joy of Letting Go - Three-quarters erect - Not found
China Lust - Half erect - available on Adult Empire Unlimited - includes Jasmine, cover girl for the April 1976 Hustler. The review says the movie would be better if the lighting was better . . . maybe I'll check it out.
Candy's Candy - Half Erect - English dubbed from the French. - not available.
Not much good in the way of jokes this month. The best one (I'll condense it) follows a man who refused to pay for his soup because he found a hair in it. The waitress followed him across the street to the whorehouse where she witnessed him going down on an unshaved woman and called him on it. To which the man replied, "And I'll tell you another thing; If I find a noodle in here, I ain't paying for this, either!"
This issue featured a centerfold of a roasted thanksgiving turkey with its panties draped over its left leg.
Kinky Korner was a supposed submission describing how she got her dog to fuck her. So, ick.
BUT! This is the first month I've run into my favorite feature: Beaver Hunt! Amateur photos submitted by "readers!"
My favorite is Randy Lynne, I guess . . .
And we had two signs of how things change, but stay the same:
- This month's Honey Hooker strip featured the local Senator Strom Hardon having Honey's Whorehouse named a Polling Place so he could have Honey's team try and influence votes for him.
- There are MANY ads in the back of the magazine selling incest and family videos - which happens to be the #1 subject in porn being made these days. And, disturbingly, there are a few ads for what they are calling "Moppet Movies" featuring "very little girls." I don't see any of that anywhere anymore - thankfully. But the Stepmom sex clips are all the rage today.
